Ottawa Valley Centennials Join USPHL Premier For 2025-26
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 10, 2025 Nashua, N.H.
– The United States Premier Hockey League (“USPHL”) is pleased to announce that the Ottawa Valley Centennials will join the USPHL Premier Conference in 2025-26, playing as members of the Canada Division. The Centennials will play at the John Levi Community Centre in Almonte, Ont., located approximately 30 miles (50 kilometers) from Canada’s capital city of Ottawa.

The Centennials are owned by John Miotla, who also serves as the team’s President, and Beverly Windsor-Miotla, the Centennials’ Vice President. John Miotla is excited to join the USPHL Premier that has seen more than 250 college commitments, and counting, over the past year.

“Joining the USPHL Premier is a major step forward for our program as well as the entire Ottawa Valley region,” Miotla said. “The USPHL’s reputation is second to none, as it has built a proven pathway for player development and exposure. Our goal is to provide players with the resources, coaching, and competition they need to move on to collegiate and higher-level junior hockey. We’re proud to be part of a League that consistently develops players for NCDC, NCAA and ACHA programs.”

Their home, the John Levi Community Centre, includes a 500-seat capacity, dedicated locker room, and several other multi-sport facilities and amenities. The Centennials revive the name of a former senior hockey team known as the Almonte Centennials. More recently, the Almonte Inferno Jr. C team competed in Almonte. In addition to its proximity to the Ottawa-Gatineau metropolitan area, Almonte is approximately 75 miles (120 kilometers) from New York state.

“Joining the USPHL enables us to provide our players with high-level exposure on both sides of the border, while maintaining balance through a strong, community-centered environment and strong local hockey roots,” said John Miotla. “We’re committed to developing athletes both on and off the ice, and the USPHL’s mission aligns perfectly with that vision.”

“The USPHL continues its strategic growth, adding the Ottawa Valley Centennials to the Canada Division,” said Mark Kumpel, the USPHL Premier and Elite Director of Operations. “The location of Almonte, Ont., closes a travel gap between Quebec and Ontario, providing players with more time for training and development. Being so close to the nation’s capital provides USPHL players greater opportunities for high-profile scouting exposure.”
