Greg Gibson
Head Coach
Greg Gibson
The Ottawa Valley Centennials are proud to officially announce Greg Gibson as the franchise’s first Head Coach ahead of the 2025-26 USPHL Premier season. A seasoned leader with an elite playing pedigree and a proven development track record, Gibson brings a wealth of experience from the NCAA, professional hockey, NAHL, and the OJHL.
A native of Burlington, Ontario, Gibson played NCAA Division 1 hockey at Robert Morris University (RMU), where he earned the honors of being nominated for the Hobey Baker Award in his senior season. Known for his offensive skill and leadership, Gibson went on to play professionally in the ECHL and Germany’s DEL2, making stops with the Florida Everblades and Heilbronner Falken among others.
Gibson holds a degree in Sports Management from RMU and pairs his academic background with practical experience in strength and conditioning. His well-rounded expertise makes him uniquely equipped to guide players both on the ice and through the daily demands of high-performance development.
Following his professional career, Gibson transitioned into coaching and education. He spent time teaching and coaching at the Ontario Hockey Academy (OHA) before taking over as Head Coach of the Ottawa Valley Titans U18 AAA program, where he quickly established a reputation for player development, culture building, and tactical acumen.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Greg lead the Centennials in our inaugural season,” said Team President John Miotla. “He’s someone who’s played and succeeded at every level our players aspire to reach. Just as importantly, he’s an exceptional communicator, mentor, and teacher of the game. His passion and commitment to player growth align perfectly with what we’re building here.”
As the Centennials prepare to enter the highly competitive USPHL Premier Canada Division, Gibson’s leadership will be instrumental in building the foundation for long-term success, focusing on culture, accountability, and next-level preparation. “Greg has a deep understanding of what it takes to get players to the NCAA and pro levels,” added Miotla. “He knows the path because he’s not only walked it but succeeded at it and now, he’s ready to help our athletes do the same.”
