Providing a home away from home for up-and-coming Centennials players.
Junior hockey players travel from across Canada, the United States, and beyond to pursue their dreams and the Ottawa Valley Centennials are proud to be part of that journey. To help make it all possible, we rely on local families throughout Almonte and the Ottawa Valley area to open their homes and hearts as billet families during the hockey season.
WHAT IS A CENTENNIALS BILLET FAMILY?
A billet family hosts a Centennials player during the USPHL Premier season, which runs from the start of September up to the end of March. During this time, players become part of your household sharing meals, joining family routines, and forming meaningful bonds that often last a lifetime.
Many billet families develop strong connections with their players, who in turn become role models and big brothers to younger children in the home. It’s not uncommon for these relationships to continue well after players move on to the next level whether that’s the NCDC or college hockey.
Players are expected to follow all household rules, participate in daily life, and maintain clear, respectful communication with their billet family.
WHAT DO BILLET FAMILIES PROVIDE?
- A private bedroom and welcoming home environment
- Regular meals, kitchen & food access
