FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 13, 2025
Almonte, ON. – The Ottawa Valley Centennials are
pleased to announce the signing of 2008-born goaltender Evan Iacobucci for the
2025-26 season.
Iacobucci, a native of Renfrew, Ontario, most recently played
games with the Renfrew Timberwolves of the EOJHL and prior to that with the
Ottawa Valley Titans U16 AAA squad. At just 17 years old, he earned valuable
experience playing games at the Junior B level last season. Known for his calm
presence in the crease and high compete level, Iacobucci brings strong
fundamentals and upside to the Centennials' goaltending core.
“The Centennials felt like the right fit from day one,”
Iacobucci said. “The team is not only friendly and welcoming, but also deeply
committed to player development, which was a major factor for me. I wanted to
be somewhere I could grow both on and off the ice.”
“What really stood out about the USPHL is the exposure it
offers. You’re playing against high-level talent across Canada and the United
States, with scouts always watching. It’s a platform that both challenges you
and showcases your abilities.”
“After playing AAA and consistently practicing with Junior
A, I developed a strong sense of the speed and compete level required at the
next tier. I felt ready to make the jump to the USPHL because I’ve already been
exposed to the physical and mental intensity needed for a demanding schedule
including extensive travel and being on the ice almost everyday.”
“We’re excited to welcome Evan to the Centennials,” said
Team President John Miotla. “He’s a young goaltender with great instincts and a
high ceiling. With our coaching and support systems in place, we believe he’s
going to take a big step forward this season.”
Standing 6’2”, Iacobucci is praised for his positioning,
rebound control, and resilience as traits which the Centennials believe will
flourish in the USPHL’s highly competitive Premier Conference.
“We’re building a team that combines potential and work
ethic, and Evan fits that mold perfectly,” said Miotla. “He’s already proven
himself at the AAA level making it to the U16 OHL Cup with the Titans and now
he’ll have the opportunity to challenge himself even more in our program.”
Iacobucci will join the team at training camp in August as
the Centennials prepare for their inaugural USPHL Premier season at the John
Levi Community Centre in Almonte, ON.
